Basic Education Facilities

The School Building Program under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund of DepEd aims to address the classroom gaps in high priority school. Every year, school enrollment increases by a net average of 1.5% to 2%. This is an equivalent to an addition of around 10,000 classroom requirement every year. With the current budget level for the School Building Program, closing the classroom gap remains a challenge for the Department.

The Department has been planning the construction fo Medium-Rise School Buildings. These are buildings consisting of 10 to 12 floors. This plan for vertical construction is an option for those areas where the availability of land area is a problem and the expansion of the school is limited vis-a-vis the school population.
